Mold and Fungus Analysis

EMS Laboratories, Inc., has participated in the AIHA, EMPAT program, since it started, (Environmental Microbiology Proficiency Analytical Testing - Lab #101634).

Our services include microscopic identification of nonviable and viable mold as follows:

Non-Viable Analysis

     a) Air-O-Cell

Involves microscopic identification and enumeration of spores (e.g. Stachybotrys, Aspergillus, Penicillum and Cladosporium), pollens, insect parts, etc.  The molds and pollens are identified to genus level and the results are expressed in counts per cubic meter of air.

     b) Tape-Lift, Swab, & Bulk

This service involves microscopic identification of spores, pollens, insect parts, etc.  The results are qualitatively expressed as trace (1+); Low (2+); Moderate (3+); and High (4+).

Viable Analysis

     Air Andersen and Swab

The samples are cultured on MEA for 5 to7 days. Results are reported in colony form units / per cubic meter (CFU/M).  Certain Aspergillus are differentiated into species level.
